Plane crashes onto motorway in the US killing at least one person

A NetJets-operated Cessna Citation Latitude crashed onto a Texas highway, killing one and injuring five others. The six-passenger business jet had departed San José del Cabo, Mexico, bound for Austin, Texas, but diverted toward Laredo and apparently lost contact with air traffic control before impact about three miles from Laredo International Airport. The aircraft struck a moving car on the roadway, leaving the jet broken in half and on fire. Witnesses used a sledgehammer and shovel to access the cockpit and help passengers exit; one person was believed to be dead, five others were hospitalized, and five officers were treated for rescue-related injuries.
