Qantas, Australian pilots union sign deal | Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

Qantas said Thursday that it has reached a provisional wage agreement with an Australian pilots union, following a long-haul vote in favour of industrial action. The proposed deal would cover about 1,700 pilots operating Airbus A380 and A330 aircraft and Boeing 787s, mostly on international routes, while short-haul pilots are covered by a separate agreement. The union said it is encouraged by progress at Australia’s industrial regulator, the Fair Work Commission, and expects the framework to be formalised in the coming days. Qantas described the outcome as an “in principle agreement” aimed at delivering significant pay increases, roster improvements and more career progression, balancing business needs.
