RAF jet crashes and explodes in Anglesey moments after pilots eject

An RAF Hawk T2 crashed and exploded moments after both pilots ejected during a training flight over Anglesey (Ynys Môn) in north Wales on Wednesday, according to authorities and witnesses. The jet had just taken off from RAF Valley on the west of the island. Witnesses reported flames on takeoff and a video showed the aircraft climbing unevenly before the pilots ejected. The plane then descended with smoke trailing and crashed near houses and agricultural buildings, producing a large fireball. Both parachuted to the ground and were treated for what police said were minor injuries. RAF said an investigation is under way and the fire was brought under control, while local train lines were closed and buses ran between Bangor and Holyhead.
