Repeat offender sentenced to 25 years for selling methamphetamine, Cherokee County DA says
A Cherokee County, Georgia, man has been sentenced to 25 years for selling methamphetamine, the district attorney said. James Wylie Stroud Jr., 57, sold methamphetamine to undercover agents in October and November 2025 and stored drugs at a Woodstock home. Investigators later found about 8.1 grams sold, 10 grams in a box, roughly 1 gram in a baggie, about 1 gram of dimethyltryptamine and a digital scale, along with eight guns. Stroud pleaded guilty to two counts of sale of methamphetamine; possession with intent to distribute; possession of a Schedule I controlled substance; possession of drug-related objects; and eight counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was sentenced to 25 years, with the first 15 to be served in prison without parole. "This defendant's criminal history shows a pattern of drug-related offenses spanning decades," said DA Susan K. Treadaway, noting that the sentence reflects the community's safety needs.
