Sole survivor of Air India crash still seeks answers
The sole survivor of Air India's Flight 171, which crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad on 12 June 2025, is Viswashkumar Ramesh. The London-bound plane killed 260 people, including his brother Ajay, and Ramesh, a Leicester resident, was the only person to survive, walking away from the wreckage in scenes that stunned onlookers. The crash occurred soon after takeoff from western India, prompting questions about its cause. Ramesh has described the event as life-changing and said his survival has left him with deep psychological scars. His experiences highlight the enduring human impact of the tragedy.
Ramesh told reporters he seeks 'honesty, transparency and answers' about what caused the catastrophe. An Air India spokesperson pledged to support every affected individual with care and compassion, underscoring the airline's commitment as investigators review the June crash. He said the loss of his brother 'took all my happiness' even as he reflects on the miraculous nature of his survival. The survivor's appeal adds pressure on authorities to provide timely, credible updates as more data are reviewed.
