Revealed: Worst UK airports for flight cancellations

Exeter Airport has been identified as the UK’s worst hub for flight cancellations despite being named Britain’s “best” airport in a Which? survey released earlier this month. Analysis by aerospace tooling supplier Heamar, using Civil Aviation Authority data, examined 25 of the country’s busiest airports across all of 2025 plus January to June 2026. Exeter recorded a 5.27% cancellation rate from January to June this year—about one cancellation per 19 flight movements. Southampton followed at 4.43%, while London City ranked third at 2.44%. Inverness (2.24%), Heathrow (1.84%) and Birmingham (1.53%) rounded out the next positions. A spokesman said most Exeter cancellations relate to services to offshore islands, vulnerable to adverse weather.
