Russian missile and drone attacks injure at least 19, including children, in Ukraine

Russia carried out missile and drone attacks targeting Kyiv and surrounding areas overnight into Thursday morning, injuring at least 19 people, Ukrainian authorities said. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukrainian forces also struck targets in Russia, including an oil refinery in Yaroslavl and a military airfield in the Rostov region. Peace talks brokered by the U.S. have stalled, particularly over territorial concessions in eastern Ukraine. Zelenskyy challenged a claim by U.S. President Donald Trump that Russia and Ukraine agreed to stop attacking each other’s energy facilities, saying any energy truce would require Russia to halt attacks on Ukrainian energy sites. Ukraine says it is ready to consider a truce covering energy infrastructure and the Black Sea, with indications still lacking from Russia. The air force reported destroying or suppressing 131 aerial targets overnight, and drones also hit a civilian vessel in the Black Sea flagging Tanzania, killing the ship’s captain and injuring three crew members.
