Russian missiles and drones kill 13 and cause damage across Ukraine capital
Russian missiles and drones kill 13 and cause damage across Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, in an overnight attack that shook the city for hours. The strike involved ballistic and cruise missiles and drones, damaging buildings and civilian infrastructure in multiple districts. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said 13 people were killed and 86 others injured, with damage recorded in 30 locations, mainly residential areas. Ihor Klymenko reported impacts across civilian infrastructure, while the Emergency Service deployed nearly 500 personnel and 100 specialised vehicles, including a helicopter. Authorities issued early warnings, prompting many residents to shelter in metro stations. Andrii Sybiha urged Ukraine’s allies to strengthen air defences, arguing Russia remains the aggressor. Ukraine also noted intensifying long-range drone activity targeting Russian military and energy sites.
