Senators urge Trump to back down from threat against Canada's Bombardier

Two U.S. senators urged President Donald Trump to reconsider his threat to ban aircraft sales by Canada’s Bombardier in the United States. Trump posted on social media Monday that there should be “NO MORE SELLING BOMBARDIER IN THE UNITED STATES,” arguing the company’s products are not good enough and saying it should build in America. The dispute follows the collapse of Canada-U.S. trade negotiations on Aug. 21, after which Trump and his administration imposed tariffs and made aggressive statements toward Canada. Ottawa responded Tuesday with retaliatory tariffs targeting about $20 billion in American imports. Bombardier said key components, including wings and engines, are already made in the U.S., citing a supply chain involving about 2,800 U.S. businesses across 47 states.
