Senators urge Trump to back down from threat to ban sales of Canada's Bombardier jets

Two U.S. senators urged President Donald Trump to back away from his threat to ban U.S. sales of Canada’s Bombardier jets. Trump wrote Monday that there should be “NO MORE SELLING BOMBARDIER IN THE UNITED STATES,” arguing the company’s products aren’t good enough and saying Canada should build in the U.S. after trade negotiations collapsed on Aug. 21. Ottawa responded with retaliatory tariffs targeting about $20 billion in U.S. imports. Bombardier said major components, including wings and engines, are already made in the U.S., and noted its supply chain involves about 2,800 U.S. businesses across 47 states. Senators Jerry Moran and Roger Marshall said they contacted the White House due to concerns about jobs in Kansas.
