Singapore, Vietnam see closer links in industrial, technology and energy supply chains
Singapore and Vietnam are deepening ties across industrial, technology and energy supply chains. From January through May 2026, bilateral trade reached SGD23.3 billion (US$18.022 billion), up 43.4% year over year. Singapore's exports to Vietnam totaled SGD12.3 billion, up 4.8%, while imports from Vietnam rose 142.9% to SGD1.0 billion, leaving a domestic deficit near SGD7.3 billion. Growth was led by HS85 electronics, HS27 mineral fuels and HS84 machinery and mechanical appliances. Vietnam's participation in regional supply chains and Singapore's role as a regional fuel hub underpin the expanding ties. MTI's June 17 report shows non-oil domestic exports up 38.4%, with electronics up 94.8%, driven by AI, integrated circuits and data storage devices.
