Southwest Airlines Cancels 17 Routes From World's Busiest Airport: See Affected Flights

Southwest Airlines has removed 17 routes from Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL), reducing its network there since March 2025 and shifting capacity primarily to Nashville International (BNA). In 2025, U.S. Department of Transportation data shows Southwest carried 4.8 million passengers to and from Atlanta with an average load factor of 73.2%. That compares with more than 7.7 million passengers in 2024 and a 75% load factor. While the cuts shrink its ATL presence, Cirium data still places Southwest third at the airport by total operations, behind Delta and Denver-based Frontier, ahead of American, United, and JetBlue.
