Spectator calls low stadium flyover a top life moment: "Amazing"

An extremely low flyover above Cape Town’s DHL Stadium has become a viral talking point after two Airlink passenger jets passed over the crowd of more than 56,000 during a rugby event on Saturday. A spectator, Marcel Opperman, said he felt no danger and called the moment “amazing,” capturing the jets on video. Preliminary flight data estimates the aircraft cleared the stadium by only about 50 feet. Airline captain Laura Einsetler described the maneuver as “really low and really tight for an airliner,” noting the aircraft differ from the fighter jets commonly used in flyovers. Airlink said the operation was safely planned and rehearsed with approvals and support from SACAA and air traffic services.
