Sunrise Airways Launches New Nonstop Service Connecting Antigua and Barbuda With Barbados

Sunrise Airways launched new nonstop service connecting Antigua and Barbuda with Barbados as part of an effort to strengthen regional air connectivity in the Caribbean. The inaugural flight departed V.C. Bird International Airport in Antigua at 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday and arrived at Grantley Adams International Airport in Barbados about one hour and 20 minutes later. The route will operate twice weekly, on Wednesdays and Sundays. The airline marked the launch with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Grantley Adams, attended by government, tourism, and aviation stakeholders including Barbados’ tourism and international transport minister Ian Gooding-Edghill and Antigua and Barbuda’s tourism authority officials. Sunrise Airways CEO Gary Stone said the service is meant to deepen commercial, tourism, and cultural ties as “One Caribbean,” offering efficient, reliable and affordable travel. Gooding-Edghill noted intra-Caribbean travel growth, citing that Barbados welcomed more than 102,000 visitors from across the region last year, up 7.8% year-over-year.
