Taiwan airlines cut fuel surcharges on international routes | Taiwan News | Jul. 1, 2026 14:53
Taiwan’s Civil Aviation Administration said international fuel surcharges will be reduced next week as global energy prices fall. Starting 7 July, short-haul flights will see the added charge drop to NT$876 (US$27.50), while long-haul surcharges will decrease to NT$2,278, according to CNA. The adjustment follows fuel surcharges being increased three months earlier, amid the Iran War, and the new rates are tied to international oil prices as announced by CPC Corp., Taiwan. The regulator said the revision is calculated to protect consumer interests and that the system was coordinated with the airlines in 2005. CPC reported that international oil prices fell from US$160.1 to US$133.29 per barrel. On that basis, the fuel surcharges can be cut from NT$1,115 for long-haul flights and from NT$2,900 for short-haul journeys. The CAA also asked airlines to provide details on how fuel costs are reflected within general costs. Travelers can check airlines’ websites for information.
