Teesside could get direct flights linking Aberdeen, Norwich and Humber under new plan

Teesside could soon gain direct flights linking offshore energy hubs in the UK under plans by Nordic operator LYGG. The company is exploring a regional service connecting Teesside, Norwich, the Humber and Aberdeen to improve travel between North Sea locations. LYGG says the concept responds to demand from more than 50 companies in the offshore energy sector, which told it that current options are limited, costly and time-consuming. Founder and CEO Roope Kekäläinen said demand isn’t just between Norwich and Aberdeen, where services already exist, but specifically between Norwich, Humber, Teesside and Aberdeen. The airline plans to launch the route focusing on areas with dense offshore activity, reducing long road trips or complex connections. LYGG is also developing pricing and capacity planning with customers and aims to prioritize Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for initial frequency.
