Terrifying moment plane 'starts to plummet' as passengers scream
A Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul to Tunis was diverted after severe turbulence struck as the aircraft attempted to land at Tunis-Carthage International Airport during a ferocious storm. Passengers shared videos showing dramatic shaking and a series of three descent attempts before the crew decided it was too hazardous to continue. On the third attempt, several passengers reported the plane “started to plummet,” prompting alarm throughout the cabin. One passenger, Marina Maiskaya, filmed the moment on her mobile and said the flight was smooth until descent, when it became “absolutely terrifying,” including violent jolts each time and a perceived sudden drop. The plane was rerouted and landed without incident at Enfidha-Hammamet International Airport, about 60 miles south of the capital. No injuries were reported among passengers or crew. Turkish Airlines did not respond to a request for comment.
