The chilling eight words whistleblower issued as a warning days before his death
A Boeing whistleblower, John Barnett, 62, was found dead in a truck in a hotel parking lot in Charleston, South Carolina, with a gunshot wound to the head, an apparent case of self-harm, according to authorities cited in reports. Days before his body was discovered, Barnett told family and friends that if anything happened to him, “it’s not suicide.” Barnett had worked as a quality inspector from 1985 to 2017 and alleged Boeing installed sub-standard parts and that workers faced pressure on an assembly line. The case is covered in a Netflix documentary, Freefall: A Reckoning for Boeing. Boeing said it declined to cooperate for the film. Barnett’s representative questioned findings that the wound was self-inflicted, and an alleged note’s contents were not yet revealed.
