The Embraer E195-E2’s lower landing-fee and fuel “math” is a key reason it can cost less per trip than the Airbus A220-300, despite both targeting the small narrowbody market. Airport charges often scale with an aircraft’s certified maximum landing or takeoff weight (MLW/MTOW). The E195-E2 can be spec’d up to 62.5 tons MTOW and 54 tons MLW, while the A220-300 can reach 70.9 tons MTOW and 61 tons MLW—typically pushing higher fees for the Airbus.
