UK passengers faced another wave of disruption after technical failures affecting National Air Traffic Services (NATS) systems led to widespread flight cancellations. According to Cirium, about 35 flights departing the UK were canceled or did not operate, while 37 scheduled arrivals were also axed early this week, following a “connectivity issue” at NATS offices in Prestwick, Scotland. The outages came two weeks after an air traffic control incident on September 8 caused more than 2,000 flight cancellations at airports including London Heathrow and Gatwick. NATS said the September 21 issue was resolved, though delays and cancellations may continue as airlines unwind operational impacts.
