This US Airline Cut Free Meals in Economy on Nearly All Flights

Hawaiian Airlines will drop free economy meals on most Hawaii-to-continent flights starting July 1. The Honolulu-to-New York JFK route will still offer free meals. The change aims to cut waste and better match demand, with orders due up to 20 hours before departure.

Menu options reflect Hawaii's flavors and were developed with Maui chef Sheldon Simeon, including a barbecue teriyaki chicken bento. Breakfast options include French toast on Hawaiian bread and coconut-milk overnight oats. Even if you don't buy, you get a welcome beverage and a local snack, with expanded first-class choices.
