Todd Rundgren Names the Only Beatle Who Survived the Beatles

Todd Rundgren said Ringo Starr was the only Beatle who “survived” the band relatively unscathed, arguing that John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison never fully escaped the shadow of the Beatles. In an interview with Vulture, Rundgren also explained why he enjoyed playing in Starr’s All-Starr Band. He described early tours as a period when Starr feared being recognized in public and could ignore fans, but said later tours showed Starr comfortable with audiences. Rundgren recounted that after the Beatles, Starr struggled with touring and later turned to rehab, forming the All-Starr Band as part of his return to performing. Rundgren cited his own involvement with the group across multiple stints from 1992 to 2017.
