Tourists given huge cabin baggage update as decade-long EU talks end

Europe’s updated air passenger rights framework requires airlines to display fares that include cabin baggage allowances before customers begin booking. The rules also permit cheaper tickets for travellers who opt to travel without hand luggage, aiming to boost price transparency and ticket comparability. In addition, the deal protects under-14 children by guaranteeing seating beside a parent without extra charges, and extends similar protections to pregnant travellers and those with disabilities or reduced mobility. The provisional agreement now awaits formal endorsement by the European Parliament and the Council within six weeks, with votes anticipated in July.
