Ubisoft Co-Founder Dies in Tragic Plane Crash

Claude Guillemot, Ubisoft's co-founder, died when a Cessna 421 crash near La Baule airfield occurred on June 19 while approaching Rennes. Loire-Atlantique authorities indicated Guillemot, 69, owned the aircraft and belonged to the La Baule flying club; he was due to attend a gathering of more than 100 aircraft in the region. The second victim is believed to be a Rennes-based flight instructor. Historically, Claude was the behind-the-scenes anchor of the Guillemot family’s tech empire, with a master's in economic science and a certificate in industrial computing guiding Ubisoft's early growth and expansion into global markets.
