Unifor began collective bargaining with WestJet, representing more than 1,800 airport workers across Toronto Pearson International Airport, Calgary International Airport and Vancouver International Airport. The union said its talks focus on wages, scheduling and working conditions, including safety concerns such as agents working alone. Unifor National President Lana Payne said members keep passengers and operations moving daily and deserve meaningful improvements. The bargaining is the second agreement process between Unifor and WestJet for these workers, following ratification of the first contract in 2022 after unionization. The current WestJet collective agreement expires Dec. 31, 2026. Negotiations are scheduled for Sept. 14-15 in Toronto and additional dates from Sept. 23-25.
