Vietnam Explores Sustainable Aviation Fuel Development at International Conference in Hanoi - The Tribune
Vietnam explored sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) development at an International Conference on SAF: Policy Frameworks and Market Development in Asia held in Hanoi on June 25. The event brought together policymakers, aviation regulators, airlines, fuel suppliers, technology providers and international organisations to discuss SAF’s role in supporting Vietnam’s aviation and energy transition goals. The conference was jointly organised by the Global Centre for Green Fuels (GCGF) and the Vietnam Academy of Construction Strategy and Cadres Training (ACST) under the Ministry of Construction, with support from the Asia Pacific Sustainable Aviation Centre (APSAC). Vice Minister Le Anh Tuan said SAF should follow a Vietnam-specific roadmap balancing emissions cuts, energy security and competitiveness. ICAO’s Subash S., Deputy Regional Director for Asia and Pacific, tied SAF to ICAO’s aspiration for net-zero international aviation by 2050, emphasizing national roadmaps, coordinated policy and collaboration with industry and finance. Discussions also covered market creation, certification, technology and supply-chain factors.
