Vietnam assessed sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) development at the International Conference on Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF): Policy Frameworks and Market Development in Asia in Hanoi on June 25, 2026. The gathering convened the Ministry of Construction, the Vietnam Academy of Construction Strategy and Cadres Training (ACST), the Global Centre for Green Fuels (GCGF) and the Asia Pacific Sustainable Aviation Centre (APSAC), along with aviation regulators, airlines, fuel suppliers, technology providers and international organisations. Vice Minister Le Anh Tuan said SAF is increasingly important for aviation decarbonisation and reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to net-zero emissions by 2050. He said SAF development should follow a roadmap tailored to Vietnam to balance emissions reduction, energy security and business competitiveness. During a keynote, ICAO’s Subash S., Deputy Regional Director for Asia and Pacific, linked SAF to ICAO’s long-term aspirational goal of net-zero carbon emissions from international aviation by 2050, stressing national roadmaps and coordinated policy frameworks. Discussions covered certification, market creation, technology pathways and supply-chain considerations.
