Vietnam firms to sign agreements as To Lam travels to New York, documents show

Vietnam’s leader To Lam is set to travel to New York next week, where U.S. and Vietnamese corporations are expected to announce a package of agreements covering energy, tech, aviation and finance, according to officials and documents reviewed by Reuters. One internal note lists 29 potential deals to be revealed on Sept. 23 at a business conference, many described as non-binding. U.S. energy firms Murphy Oil and Chevron are expected to link up with state-owned Petrovietnam, while ExxonMobil is slated to announce an accord with Vietnam Refinery and Petrochemical Corporation, the country’s second-largest refinery. To Lam is also scheduled to speak at the UN General Assembly on Sept. 22.
