Walmart Brings Wing Drones To Cincinnati And Kroger's Door
Walmart is expanding drone delivery in Cincinnati by partnering with Alphabet-owned Wing, placing an autonomous grocery operation in the same metro area as Kroger’s global headquarters. The Ohio launch is part of a larger 150-store rollout Wing-Walmart announced in January 2026. That announcement also listed cities including Houston, Los Angeles, St. Louis, and Miami, with Houston starting service on January 15, 2026. After the expansion completes, the article says Wing will operate from more than 270 Walmart stores by the end of 2027, potentially reaching about 40 million Americans. Wing’s aircraft fly up to 60 mph and use tethered delivery to lower packages to a yard or driveway, typically within 30 minutes, with a payload around 3 pounds per flight. Cincinnati’s exact store eligibility and launch date were not disclosed, and the service is described as phased through 2026 into 2027 with limits on item size and weight.
