The 2-year-old colt won a $85,000 maiden special weight at Aqueduct Racetrack on Thursday, June 25, romping by an easy 10 lengths under Manny Franco. Trained by Rudy R. Rodriguez and backed at 6-5 odds, Flight Command set fractions of 22.37 for the quarter and 45.60 for the half before stopping the clock at 1:04.11 for 5 1/2 furlongs. He returned $4.56 and earned $46,750 for LSU Stables. Flight Command follows Flightline’s 2022 Horse of the Year campaign, including an 8 1/4-length Breeders’ Cup Classic win at Keeneland. Next targets discussed include the $250,000 Grade 2 Saratoga Special on August 1.
