Wizz Air Once Again Named Europe's Most Sustainable Low-Cost Airline
Wizz Air has again been named Europe’s most sustainable low-cost airline, extending its World Finance Sustainability Awards recognition to a sixth consecutive year in 2026. The award highlights the carrier’s leadership in climate protection, according to reports cited by turizmus.com. During the assessment period, Wizz Air recorded the lowest carbon emissions intensity among European airlines at 50.8 grams of CO₂ per passenger kilometer. The airline attributes results to operating a modern fleet while maintaining high passenger load factors. Wizz Air’s fleet totals 269 aircraft from the Airbus A320 family, with an average age of 4.5 years, and about 75% are A320neo/A321neo “Neo” models. It also cites gradual integration of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) within a broader ESG strategy as it targets longer-term decarbonization.
