A federal investigator said parts of a business jet appeared to have broken off before the aircraft crashed in South Florida and erupted in flames, killing all nine people on board. The crash occurred Sunday, Nov. 1 in Greenacres, about 7 miles (11 kilometers) southwest of West Palm Beach. Video captured the moment as the Bahamas-bound aircraft plunged and impacted the ground, producing thick black smoke and debris around the crater area. NTSB member Tom Chapman told reporters Monday that the aircraft appeared to be breaking up before impact and that parts may be found far from the site. The NTSB had previously confirmed ice forming during moderate turbulence. The flight departed Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas.
