WTW flags structural shift beneath general aviation insurance soft market
WTW’s latest general aviation insurance market outlook says the “soft” conditions are masking major structural shifts. While capacity is plentiful and rates have been falling across most segments for nearly two years, WTW points to a migration of experienced underwriters into newly formed managing general agents (MGAs) as the biggest change. That movement can encourage pricing discipline to follow individuals, but MGA platforms often push for faster premium growth and may adopt broader risk appetite. WTW also flags continued expansion of delegated authority structures such as lineslips, which route more business through intermediary facilities instead of the open market. The report urges earlier broker engagement to prevent renewal surprises.
