Your Job Better": Video of Geno Smith Confronting Cop During Traffic Stop Surfaces 3 Months Later
Controversy surrounding New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith and a traffic stop resurfaced months later after bodycam footage was obtained following an incident on March 18 in Davie, Florida. Smith was pulled over by a Davie PD officer asking for registration and license information; the exchange turned tense because the vehicle’s tag, registered as a Lamborghini, did not match the Rolls-Royce Smith was driving. In the video, Smith questions why the officer read his tag and urges him to “do your job better.” The officer explained that automated license plate reading scanners compare plate data against state databases, often to detect stolen vehicles or suspended registrations. Smith later said he “probably switched the tag.” Two citations were issued, including one requiring a court appearance scheduled for April 2 at 1:30 pm and another for not having his driver’s license on him. Court records indicate the case was closed last month.
