Zelenskyy seeks more F-16 jets, ammunition from Belgium - Daily Excelsior
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy asked Belgium for additional F-16 fighter jets and ammunition to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses, citing Russian strikes on energy infrastructure. Speaking during talks in Brussels with Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever, Zelenskyy said nearly 15,000 people in Russia-struck Volyn were without electricity, while parts of Kyiv and surrounding areas also faced outages. He added that repair crews in some communities couldn’t start restoration work due to threats of further attacks on the same sites. Zelenskyy said F-16s are helping repel jet-powered “Shaheds” and that Ukraine is working with Belgium to secure more aircraft quickly. He also met King Philippe and EU leaders, urging support for air defenses and energy resilience into next year.
