Advisory issued for rough seas

Sri Lanka’s Department of Meteorology issued an “Amber” advisory for rough seas across sea areas running from Mannar to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle. The agency said showers or thundershowers are expected during the evening or night in those waters. It warned that gusty winds could become temporarily strong, reaching up to 60–70 km/h, along with very rough seas during thunderstorms. The advisory targets maritime activity, advising the naval and fishing communities operating in the affected areas to stay vigilant as conditions may worsen. The notice focuses on weather-driven sea hazards in the specified coastal routes.
