After recent success, 2027 Bayview Port Huron Mackinac Race will return to single course race

The Bayview Port Huron to Mackinac Race will return to a single-course format after a widely praised 100th running in 2024. Race organizers say every boat in the 2027 fleet will sail the same route, starting July 10 from Port Huron in southern Lake Huron and finishing at Mackinac Island. The new “Duck Islands Course” uses a virtual gate just south of Duck Island and ends in front of Mission Point Resort on the island’s east end, covering 225 nautical miles. The change follows competitor fatigue with the previously split Cove Island and Shore courses, including a 332-boat record field in 2024. Trophies remain the J.L. Hudson and Canadian Club awards.
