Authorities investigating fatal incident on Merrimack River

Authorities are investigating the cause of a fatal boating crash on the Merrimack River near the Old Sagamore bridge in Hudson, New Hampshire. Nashua Fire & Police and Hudson Fire & Police responded to a report of the accident on Sunday at about 5:15 p.m. A preliminary investigation indicates that Erick Machado, 31, of Nashua was operating a personal watercraft when it collided with the rear of a pontoon boat. The impact reportedly threw Machado into the water, where he was struck by the pontoon boat’s propeller, leading to severe leg injuries. He was pulled from the water but later died from those injuries.
