Bears' left tackle competition adds another contender; Colston Loveland shines

At Chicago’s training camp in Lake Forest, Ill., Kiran Amegadjie, the Bears’ 2024 third-round pick, took most of the first-team reps at left tackle on Friday. Viewed as a longshot earlier in the competition, Amegadjie still logged a day’s worth of snaps for coaches to evaluate, including two plays where defensive end Austin Booker looked to gain the advantage in a non-padded session. Amegadjie missed much of last camp due to injury, made the 53-man roster, but was inactive for the first two games before landing on injured reserve. The Bears have not settled the rotation: Braxton Jones was next in line for reps and could be in line to play Saturday. Jones said his comfort is “night and day” after returning from a 2024 ankle injury. Coming off 2024, Jones described how mentally tough it was, and said working with retired All-Pro Terron Armstead has helped him regain confidence against power pass rush.
