Bemus Point Boat Launch Reconstruction Project Completed

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has finished reconstructing the Bemus Point State Boat Launch and Fishing Access Site on Chautauqua Lake. The $685,000 project, funded through the NY Works Program, replaced the boat launch and added new boat docks plus a kayak launch. DEC also installed Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant features, including accessible parking near the launch, improved sidewalks, and motion-sensor, solar-powered lights. A concrete seawall was removed and replaced with stone rip rap and a vegetated shoreline. Bemus Point Mayor Jeff Molnar cited the site’s long history and highlighted the kayak launch’s role in the Bemus Point-Ellery Blueway Paddle Trail.
