Newport man killed in boating accident on Bald Knob Lake, authorities say | Arkansas Democrat Gazette

Authorities say Garry Thomas Jr., 38, of Newport was killed in a boating accident on Bald Knob Lake last week. His body was found on Sept. 23 by dive teams from the White County Sheriff’s Office and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, according to a Friday release. The search started Sept. 22 at around 7 p.m., after the sheriff’s office was called to help look for a missing boater. Investigators later found Thomas’ truck and trailer in the parking lot and located his empty boat on the west side of the lake, with significant damage to the outboard motor. Clothing belonging to Thomas was recovered about 800 feet south of the damaged boat. The commission will investigate, and the body was sent to the medical examiner.
