Bills stash LB who made 56 tackles for them last season on practice squad

The Buffalo Bills have signed veteran linebacker Shaq Thompson to their practice squad Monday after he spent the offseason as an unrestricted free agent. Thompson, 32, said he wanted to be “a Bill” and return to the team environment, but he did not participate in OTAs, training camp, or the preseason, so he’ll need time to get back into playing shape. The Bills know his impact from last season: 12 games with six starts and 56 tackles, plus six tackles for loss, one sack, and a forced fumble. In the playoffs, he recorded an interception in the wild-card win over Jacksonville and led Buffalo with eight tackles. The team had linebacker depth considerations behind Terrel Bernard.
