Boater loses both legs in accident on Bear Lake as deputies respond to multiple calls for help
A boating accident on Bear Lake left a person with both legs amputated, according to the Bear Lake County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred over the weekend, and deputies also responded to several other calls at the lake. In the sheriff’s office update shared on Facebook, few details were provided beyond that the victim suffered a “double amputation.” The post said the victim was transported after being “lifelight” from the scene, with bystanders and medics providing medical care prior to transport. Other responses included a sinking boat with passengers, where all people were safely removed from the water. Deputies also rescued a child from a locked car as temperatures rose above 90 degrees and responded to a serious vehicle crash with one person airlifted to a hospital.
