BUI arrests reported in Georgia over Labor Day weekend

Georgia game wardens reported eight arrests for boating under the influence (BUI) and two boating incidents statewide during the first two days of the Labor Day holiday weekend. The preliminary figures from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources cover the period from 12:01 a.m. Saturday through 11:59 p.m. Sunday and do not include any Labor Day reports, which are expected to be added by Tuesday. DNR said there were no drownings, boating injuries, or boating fatalities during that initial window. Of the eight BUI arrests, five occurred in the Gainesville region, two in the Acworth region, and one in the Albany region. Lake Lanier accounted for five BUI arrests and both incidents reported through Sunday. Two arrests were reported on Lake Allatoona. In Forsyth County, a pontoon boat ran aground near Port Royal Marina and the operator was arrested after a BUI screening; in Hall County, a boater struck a nearby cabin cruiser and was arrested for BUI and obstruction.
