Chicagoans Rally To Help Dislodge Boat Stuck On North Avenue Beach, But It Remains Stuck

A boat that washed ashore on Chicago’s North Avenue Beach on July 19 has remained stuck in the sand, even after a day of community attempts to free it. Owner and captain Lenny Klinger, who made a viral appeal on FOX32, was joined by about a dozen volunteers—including Michael Khrin—on Thursday. Despite using a tow boat, a water pump and an excavator, the vessel, Sea No Evil, stayed embedded. A final effort is planned Friday to avoid potentially steeper consequences, as Klinger faces hefty fines. The trouble began July 18 when waves disabled the boat’s electricity and cut power to the engines, leaving him stranded less than a mile offshore until the U.S. Coast Guard rescued him.
