Chocolate eyeball candy sold at Marshalls, TJ Maxx and other retailers recalled over milk allergy risk
xCruzo Brief
A New Jersey candy company is recalling Crystal Temptations chocolate eyeballs sold at Marshalls, TJ Maxx, HomeGoods and Sierra Trading Post due to undeclared milk allergens. The FDA says the products were distributed across 14 states, including Arizona, California, Connecticut, Georgia and New Jersey, among others. People with severe sensitivity or a milk allergy could face a “serious or life-threatening allergic reaction” if they eat the candy, the agency warned. No illnesses were reported as of Aug. 31, when the FDA posted the recall notice. The company attributed the labeling failure to a “temporary breakdown” in production and packaging and advised consumers to destroy the items for a refund.
