Coast Guard rescues sailor after boat runs aground on Santa Rosa Island

The U.S. Coast Guard rescued one sailor after a 25-foot sailboat ran aground on Santa Rosa Island off the Southern California coast, officials said Thursday. The Coast Guard received the report at 12:18 p.m. and dispatched a helicopter crew from its air station in Ventura County. A photo released by the service showed the vessel pitched on its side on the beach. The helicopter crew transported the sailor to Camarillo Airport, where the Ventura County Fire Department evaluated him and found no injuries.
