COLUMN: Sadler's Marine, Historic Family Business
xCruzo Brief
Sadler’s Marine has been recognized as a Texas Treasured Historic Business by the Texas Historical Commission, honoring a family operation that has served Jacksonville for more than 50 years. The nomination was submitted by Jacksonville resident Sheri Lee, who said she became interested in the designation while working in tourism and wanted the company’s heritage formally recorded. Lee’s research included conversations through local civic leaders and the Cherokee County Historical Commission. The history, as described by Robert Sadler, traces back to Monk Sadler opening the business in 1959 at 1624 South Jackson St., with the growth helped by the creation of Lake Jacksonville two years later.
