Conservatives pledge 275 more police officers for region
The Conservatives have pledged to recruit 275 additional police officers across Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire if the party returns to government, framing the plan as a response to crime and antisocial behaviour. Under the proposal, Lincolnshire Police would receive 124 extra officers and Humberside Police 151. The party says the hires would help tackle antisocial behaviour, shoplifting and knife crime, arguing these issues are eroding public confidence and community safety. The Home Office noted the current government has committed to adding 13,000 officers to neighbourhoods affected by antisocial behaviour by 2029. Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp said people increasingly feel rules are not enforced, including for shoplifting and violent crime.
