Cowboys HC Brian Schottenheimer Seemingly Disses Steelers While Discussing Broderick Jones

Broderick Jones is in Dallas for a “fresh start” after being acquired by the Cowboys from the Pittsburgh Steelers a week earlier, but early comments from Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer about the transition have drawn attention. At a weekly press conference on Thursday, September 3, Schottenheimer praised Jones’ quick learning of the Cowboys’ system and coachability, while noting that some techniques taught by the staff required retraining “and usually it takes a minute.” The Cowboys added the 2023 draftee for offensive-line depth, acquiring him on August 29 with a fourth-round 2027 pick in exchange for a third- and sixth-round 2027 pick from Pittsburgh. Schottenheimer also said Jones will stay at right tackle rather than rotate as he did in Pittsburgh, where he cited bouncing between spots as a key obstacle.
